What Is the CE-500 SPE?

The CE-500 Single Pilot Exemption (often referred to as an SPE) allows qualified pilots to operate certain CE-500 series Citations without a required second-in-command. This authorization is earned through focused training and a single-pilot proficiency check conducted to ATP standards.

At LOFT, our SPE program is built around scenario-based training that emphasizes:

  • Single-pilot resource management (SRM)
  • Automation management
  • Abnormal and emergency decision-making
  • High-workload phases of flight

The goal isn’t memorization—it’s competence and confidence in the cockpit.

Aircraft Coverage & Differences

CE-500 Models Covered:

Our CE-500 SPE training applies to the CE-500 series excluding the CE-501 and CE-551, which require separate authorization.

When completing your SPE with LOFT:

  • Relevant differences for the CE-500 series are included at no additional cost
  • Training is conducted in our CE-560 Ultra Level D simulator
  • Simulator is equipped with Primus 1000 and UNS-1 FMS

This allows pilots to complete a single, streamlined training event while maintaining compliance across applicable CE-500 models.
